Somehow in this fantasy-scape the rocks seem to be splattered with blood and the sky is bleeding too.
It's part of an older waxart picture I've ironed about a year ago and although there's only barren dry land
cliffs and sky to see here the atmosphere somehow invokes a magic of it's own that I've really come to like.

Most of the time I enjoy the company of other people very much. But every once in a while I wish
I could leave everything + everyone behind and live in such a secluded place all by myself .
Of course such fits don't last long. Cause what would I do without my friends, my chinchillas, my books, drawings and TV anyway :giggle:

Very nice. What did you draw this with?
ok, bad way to prase that. i see that you used wax. what i meant was... did you draw it out before adding the wax, or just work with the wax as you went?
THANK YOU :glomp:

The picture I've made by ironing colored wax onto a special coated/sealed white paper card
The technique is called 'Encaustic' originating from the greek word for 'branding' or 'burning'
For more information take a look at [link]
What makes working with wax (ironing it) tricky part is, that there's no way or better no use in making any sketch before setting ot work cause usually the wax is covering everything by smothing it over the card and you're not able to see any scetch that's laying underneath unless you'd be scraring away all the waxlayers first.

So the good thing with this technique is, everything has to be drawn/ironed freehand, sponatious and is therefore an ultimate medium to express the subconscious . Just get started and see what's coming out or what can be made of it. The drawback, there's almost no way to undo 'happy accidents' without changing/erasing everything that's been created so far ;)
wow that's beautiful, amazing job on the detail and the feel of the pic^_^
I am still amazed at how you can make such a masterpiece with a messy medium like wax. My jaw literally dropped when I saw this. Great work, as always:3
looks like a city...O_O
ahhhhh, thanks! i've done wax resist work before, where you mark the parts that won't have color with a clear wax that gets ironed off of rice paper later, and then fill in the sections in between the wax with watercolor. that was fun. i've been meaning to try some more experiments with wax though, so we'll see what happens. ;)
